Meet Our Team

Heidi Core is a graduate of LSU with a Bachelor of Interior Design from the LSU School of Architecture and is a member of the International Interior Design Association. She is a licensed and NCIDQ certified interior designer with extensive capability with CAD design and architectural drawings. Furthermore, she has over 30 years of experience in both commercial and residential design in multiple states.

Most of her time has been spent in commercial design which has included medical design, both hospital, private office, and outpatient surgery center, as well as hospitality such as her work on the historic Musgrove Country Club. She currently is the founder and owner of Heidi Core Interior Design, LLC in Birmingham, Alabama. She previously worked for HKS, Inc. included in Interior Design Magazine’s Top 100 Giants, as well as Andre Staffelbach of Dallas, Texas, a member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame.

Her healthcare experience was launched by becoming a member of the Mayo Clinic Department of Design in Rochester, Minnesota where she had the unique opportunity to work in healthcare design from the inside out at one of the premier medical institutions in the world. She built experience after coming to Birmingham where she joined an architectural firm which was one of the primary firms responsible for the design of multiple rehabilitation facilities. Since establishing her own independent firm, she has created over 100 dental & medical offices across multiple states for many highly satisfied clients.

Heidi is a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, a Past President of the Jefferson County Medical Society Alliance, a Chi Omega Alumna and recipient of the IIDA’s Best of Small Healthcare for 2013 and 2019.

Heidi is a current board member of the Alabama Interior Design Coalition, an organization that provides support for Alabama legislation in regards to Interior Design registration and serves to safeguard the standards of the profession.

In 2015, Heidi’s team had the honor and pleasure of joining forces with the Homes for our Troops organization, Stephen Ray Building Company and Scott Phillips Architecture to create an adaptive custom home for United States Army soldier Noah Galloway.

Caylee found joy in creative pursuits from a young age, immersing herself in her grandfather’s world of home building. She studied floor plans with enthusiasm and looked forward to trips to Home Depot with her father, experiences that ignited her lifelong passion for design.

After graduating from Auburn University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Caylee honed her skills in design principles, color theory and spatial planning. Her solid educational foundation enables her to bring innovative concepts to life.

Caylee joined Heidi Core’s team in 2019, further enriching her knowledge in interior design across diverse project types including residential, corporate, healthcare, hospitality and retail. She enjoys collaborating with clients, seamlessly incorporating their unique styles into comfortable, functional spaces.

As a LEED Green Associate and Registered Interior Designer, Caylee stays current on industry trends as an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council and International Interior Design Association. Outside of work, she finds inspiration in nature, adventure and spending time with her husband Michael and yellow lab Charlie.

Jenny’s artistic talents emerged at an early age, recognized through awards and acceptance into magnet school arts programs. Her commitment to the arts continued through high school and college, culminating in a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art from the University of South Florida.

After relocating to Birmingham in 2010, Jenny gained over 9 years of experience consulting for a commercial art company. There she managed projects and curated custom art collections for
businesses and private homes. Since 2019, she has worked independently in collaboration with award-winning designer Heidi Core.

Jenny feels grateful for the exciting artistic journey that allows her to positively impact clients through unique projects. Outside of curating art collections, she spends time with family, drawing inspiration from her husband Jameson and two children.

Meg sees potential in every space. With degrees in Marketing and Interior Design, she skillfully blends aesthetic appeal and functionality, gently nudging clients beyond their comfort zones. Her personable approach and 13 years’ experience in commercial design make the creative process fun for all involved.

In addition to running her busy practice, Meg mentors women entrepreneurs and serves as a Bible Study leader. She holds NCIDQ certification and actively participates in the Alabama Chapter of the International Interior Design Association.

Scott Patrick Phillips brings over 30 years of architectural experience across diverse project types. His healthcare, commercial, academic and government work totals over $600 million in construction costs. Scott holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Auburn University.

Originally from Huntsville, Scott relocated to Birmingham in the 1990s through an Auburn urban design program. This led to an internship and subsequent healthcare projects that honed his skills in complex renovations and cutting-edge medical facilities. His cultural revival work in Birmingham’s Avondale neighborhood has received national media attention.

Outside of architecture, Scott spends time with his wife Heather and three kids. He has volunteered extensively with the local Cub Scouts and served on the Board of the South Highland Child Development Center. Scott achieved structural masonry certification in 1996 and completed California’s disaster response training program in 2011. In 2015, he teamed up with Heidi Core Design on an adaptive home build for injured veteran Noah Galloway.

Madison Best is a recent graduate of Samford University where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design along with a minor in General Business. She is originally from Savannah, GA, but has found her home in Birmingham.

In college she was an active member of the Epsilon Xi Chapter of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Madison served her chapter as Director of Risk Management and Wellness as well as Collegiate Chapter President. She was awarded Panhellenic Chapter President of the Year for her exemplary leadership among the Samford Greek Life Community.

Madison also served as an Arts Ambassador for Samford’s School of the Arts. At the end of her senior year, Madison was recognized by her professors as the recipient of The Rebar Award, which is awarded to the senior that “consistently builds a strong bond in the learning community.” This award is based off of the Bible verse Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”

In her free time, she enjoys an active lifestyle with interests in working out, cooking, and playing tennis and golf. Madison’s design expertise coupled with strong business acumen makes her a promising talent in the field of interior design.
